What is Mediation?

Mediation is a process of negotiation where you and your partner come together with the help of an independent mediator to discuss the issues arising from your relationship breakdown. At JLS Solicitors, our mediator, Justine Soper, will meet with both of you to gain some insight into the history of your relationship, what you are hoping to achieve from your discussions and then assist you with those discussions. Many of our mediation clients have commented on the calming and relaxed atmosphere we create within our offices. We believe in providing a confidential and safe environment for you to talk to each other, keeping the lines of communication open.

An Introduction to Collaborative Law and how it can help you

Collaborative law is a further service we offer at JLS Solicitors to help you through the separation, divorce and dissolution process. The purpose of this is to reach an agreement with your partner without having to go to court. You and your partner would each instruct a collaboratively trained lawyer to assist with this process. The four of us would then sign a participation agreement to work together and endeavour to settle all the issues between you. This would involve a series of meetings to discuss the possible solutions that could be available to you, as a family rather than communications being via letters and telephone calls between the solicitors.
